There was a certain blissful innocence to the lands under the name "Mallya". For an unknowable amount of time, despite the somewhat adventurous nature of their King this predominantly subterranean civilisation enjoyed splendid isolation. For though a small force did indeed defend the lands; some rather green, others members of the Higher Defense or Engagers and some did indeed know of the malevonant force above spreading far and wide across the Warren they had been present in, it was hardly expected that any threat would have to be faced...

How wrong all whom called Mallya home were...

Though perhaps the natural - and perhaps unnatural - stone constructs around them didn't offer the people of the depths the possibility to know of the fact, a new dawn graced Mallya. Still, their King, one "Inera" had not returned from where he may have ventured off to, but for those in the underground city, this worried them little. For most, a normal day began. Labourers began their work, shopkeepers opened their stores, officials had started with their not-so-enviable job of managing their lands, and those who defended their homes - as professional or otherwise they may have been - began their patrols.
As the day grew longer, perhaps the defenders of Mallya slowly became privy to metaphorical dark clouds hovering over their heads. Scouts may have reported to their superiors that an unnaturally large force of corrupt demons were approaching their homes. The news would not spread fast, for most took comfort in the safety of the underground. Maybe the Chaosium was approaching, and perhaps their malevonant forces would begin to destroy what they found, however that was not their concern. Rather, that'd be the concern of the Clans topside

And indeed, the dastardly beings from a despicable Warren would begin to relentlessly butcher the unprepared Demi Fae who called the lands above Mallya's underground "stronghold", leaving little in their wake. Camps were burnt, land was corrupted, and only a few would manage to at all escape a brutal and excruciating fate. Perhaps some would seek asylum underground, either reluctantly allowed or outright denied by the occupants of the subterranean city, fearing that the monsters ransacking the lands above would notice the wave of those topside attempting to seek refuge in their homes... The defenses of Mallya were put on high alert, to remain vigilant but to never step foot topside. It was still hoped that the Chaos' attack would come and go, none the wiser that a civilisation lived underneath their destructive path.

Time went by, and so increased the nerves of those below as they waited... There were those who against the common wishes of the defenders organised themselves, ready to make a break for it, to escape. Some already began to attempt discreetly to exit the city below the exposed dirt of the surface. They were not stopped; the last thing anyone wanted was to cause civil bloodshed in this dangerous situation.

The worst came to be, however. The cruel invaders began pouring in from what seemed everywhere. Some even believed grotesque monsters were bursting out of the rock below their feet at some points, which though perhaps an illusion in the panic of the situation, may very well not have been... Those who had not already escaped and were on their way outside were the first to fall, succumbing to the atrocity committed against them. The less-professional "Lesser Defense" had to attempt to fend off the horde of malignant monsters next, but to no avail, no matter how bravely they attempted to fight.
If any exits were still available to the people of the underground city, they would begin to flood those tunnels in an attempt to escape; Relic Hunters and Engagers taking it upon themselves to guide and defend the citizenry. Only a few of many would reach the surface and live to survive another day, many fell to the seemingly limitless monsters attacking them.

Left in the wake of the escapees was a husk of a subterranean town, guarded by the elites of Mallya. They fought ferociously, but nothing could stop the Chaosium's awful forces from seeping into the heart of the to-be destroyed civilisation. Much blood was spilt, even that of the monsters invading, but resistance was all for naught...

A thunderous boom sounded all across the underground, and those who still lived watched in horror and dismay as rock started cascading from above. Explosions rocked the caves and caverns as they started to collapse in on themselves, levelling the buildings that remained standing. How the process began was not clear to all who remained, but guesses could be made... Sabotage? A spur-of-the-moment attack on the Brewery? The facts mattered little however. None would be leaving anymore... To those who remained in the collapsing city, rock falling from above burying what was still present, their fate was sealed. Whether torment ended quickly at the hands of the beasts of Chaos which; with seemingly little care for their survival still fought through the collapsing civilisation, or slowly, buried underneath stone to erode or choke was up in the air... But it was obvious, for even though some still escaped, to seek refuge in other lands or attempt to reestablish themselves despite all that had been lost, Mallya was in no uncertain terms, gone.

To those whom would soon learn of the news of Mallya's destruction, the fears of the Chaosium's return, and all the destruction that would come of it was put into horrific perspective... For if even a sheltered underground community fell to Chaos' malignance, then no land was safe from the ever-encroaching demons that came from Aimsir and opened subsequent portals to the North and South... If the Warren truly wanted to continue onwards, then sooner rather than later, all must be willing to dedicate themselves to fighting back against the return of an old, brutish and evil enemy.

Already, the Chaosium has spread rapidly, from the waters surrounding the Dryland Isles an old and feared civilisation of pirates turned Free Fleet to the frontiers of the Queensland Peninsula, threatening a truly ancient and storied population of unique Fae. And continue to spread it will, casting butchery on wherever the Chaos goes, unless great action was performed against the invaders in response... To say the least, the destruction of a not-so-insignificant civilisation will serve as no less than a harsh wake-up slap to Caer Sidi, and all who call it home.
